GEI's staff has provided geotechnical recommendations for numerous types of structural foundations. Each foundation recommendation is tailored to meet the specific needs of the particular location, subsurface conditions, adjacent constraints, and other governing project criteria. GEI's staff is familiar with the design of shallow and deep foundations to support various types of structures. Where practical, shallow foundations on natural soil, compacted fill, or rock are generally more economical than deep foundations. Where shallow foundations cannot be used due to the presence of high groundwater or highly compressible soils, deep foundations are generally a feasible alternative solution.
